What counts as a verified visit

Some reviews carry a GPS-verified badge. This page explains exactly what that badge does and does not mean.

How a visit gets verified

While at the venue, a reviewer can check in with their phone's location. If the phone's position matches the venue at that moment, the visit is marked GPS-verified. Nothing else earns the badge: not photos, not receipts, and not being a long-time member.

What the badge means

The badge proves presence: this person really stood at this venue. Verified reviews also carry a little more weight in the community scores, because a confirmed visit is harder to fake than an account.

What it does not mean

It does not mean the opinion is more correct, and a review without the badge is not fake. Most honest reviews are simply written later, from home. Venues cannot buy, request, or remove the badge.

Location is read once, at the moment you check in, to confirm you are at the venue. DateSpots does not track your location in the background.
